ENVIRON’s VOC BioTreat™ receives Louisiana AWMA Industry Award
Date: December 05, 2011
ENVIRON is pleased to announce that the firm’s patent-pending VOC BioTreat™ technology received the Air & Waste Management Association (AWMA) Louisiana Section’s 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award.
“The VOC BioTreat team is truly honored to receive this award from the AWMA Louisiana Section,” ENVIRON principal and Director of the VOC BioTreat initiative, Dr. Carl E. Adams, Jr. stated. In 2001, the Louisiana Section of the AWMA established the award to recognize outstanding achievement in the fields of air pollution control or waste management. This is the first time the organization has presented the award to a new process or innovation, rather than directly to a facility.
An innovative and cost-effective volatile organic chemical (VOC) biodestruction technology protocol, the VOC BioTreat solution will help refineries, organic chemical plants and pharmaceutical manufacturers meet air quality requirements economically using existing biotreatment facilities. ENVIRON’s work in developing the protocols and resulting solutions was led by Dr. Adams, ENVIRON’s Global Practice Leader for Industrial Wastewater Management. Initial testing of this research was completed at Marathon Petroleum Company, Garyville Refinery in Garyville, Louisiana.
