Ms. Horsley currently serves as Laboratory Services Manager for the Ecotoxicology Group. Ms. Horsley, who also serves as a project manager for the Ecotoxicology Group, is responsible for project management and oversight. Her responsibilities include writing project reports, assisting with determining NPDES permit requirements for clients, statistical calculations of data, and general project management. She is also in charge of maintaining ENVIRON's reference toxicant program and annual DMR records. Ms. Horsley is also the primary contact for on-site laboratory audits conducted as part of certification for the laboratory. Project responsibilities include development of Water Effects Ratios (WERs), oversight of Toxicity Identification Evaluations (TIEs), and database searches for information related to threatened and endangered species, chemical specific toxicity, and other data regarding water quality and toxicity. She has also performed field bioassessments of fish communities and prepared reports for projects involving lead-based paint surveys, environmental assessments, and stream surveys involving rapid bioassessments and habitat quality assessment.

Experience Highlights

  • Has over 15 years experience in whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing and TIE/TRE studies.
  • Oversees aquatic and sediment toxicity testing of freshwater and estuarine organisms.
  • Supervises the maintenance of test organism cultures.
  • Manages Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs, aquatic toxicity testing, and other general laboratory functions.
  • Participates in field biological and water quality studies.
  • Maintains laboratory certifications and schedules aquatic toxicity testing in the laboratory.
  • Conducted research into fish pathogens and select chemicals in effluent toxicity tests.
  • Assisted the Treatability Group in bench, pilot, and analytical testing, for various experiments.
