Betty Hosteny

As a Senior Manager at ENVIRON, Betty Hosteny has over 18 years of experience managing, implementing and auditing environmental, health and safety (EHS) management systems for multinational clients worldwide. Her experience includes 5 years serving as the North American director of EHS management systems certification and auditor training services for ERM CVS, a global sustainability certification body serving over 300 clients in 40 countries. In this capacity, Ms. Hosteny led performance-based certification assessments against ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and provided management training in over 30 countries for a wide range of industry sectors, including health care, electronic and automotive. In addition to management systems auditing, she has provided management consulting services for numerous corporate clients, focusing on strategic planning, organizational resource studies, development and analysis of environmental policies and requirements, and environmental health and safety leadership training for executive management.

• Served as Project Director for ISO 14001implementation at Kraft Foods North America. This included training, tool design and development, as well as on-site assistance for 70 food manufacturing plants. Conducted internal audits to prepare sites for ISO 14001 certification.
• Provided EHS management systems implementation guidance and internal auditor training for over 400 environmental and operations management representatives of multinational companies such as Shell, Airbus, Rexam, BP Plc, Kodak, Estee Lauder Companies, Inc., Unilever, Pfizer Inc., Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., Marathon Oil Corp., ArvinMeritor, Inc., General Dynamics Corp., Bayer AG and Appleton Papers, Inc. among others.
• Directed the implementation of a worldwide certification strategy for Baxter International and Johnson & Johnson to assess business units and facilities against ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and internal company EHS standards.
• Served as Project Director for General Dynamics to develop business unit EHS management systems to assure compliance with regulations, company requirements, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. General Dynamics business sectors included aerospace, coal and aggregate mining, heavy manufacturing and hardware/software technology.
• Conducted strategic management assessments for multiple petrochemical refineries across the US. Guided the Executive Management Teams in implementation and certification of the site’s Responsible Care® Management System.
• Conducted an EHS management systems review for an international consumer hardware manufacturer. Benchmarked the EHS function against a cross section of the Fortune 200 as well as the ICC Business Charter for Sustainable Development. Developed timed and costed action plan to improve targeted areas.
• Served as Project Director of a worldwide management systems assessment for an international consumer products company. Verified that the company's global environmental management system met the intent of ISO 14001 and the European Eco-Management Audit Scheme (EMAS).
