Over the past 25 years, ENVIRON has earned an unparalleled reputation for combining technical expertise and practical experience in assessing human health and environmental risks in a variety of decision-making contexts. In conjunction with this work, we have also assisted our clients and other stakeholders in developing strategies for effectively managing risks and protecting human health and the environment. As a result, we are routinely called upon by our clients to help address their most challenging human health and environmental risk issues.
At ENVIRON, we are unique in our ability to bring together leading experts in the areas of health science, environmental science, engineering, and transport modeling to evaluate and manage potential risks. These technical strengths, along with an unmatched depth of experience in addressing real-world situations, allows us to critically evaluate how chemicals enter and behave in different environments, the potential levels of exposure to chemicals in these environments, and the potential risks associated with such exposures.
ENVIRON’s environmental scientists, engineers and modeling specialists work closely with our health scientists to make sure that the nature and magnitude of potential exposures can be properly characterized. Our health scientists have played leading roles in the development and application of many of the methodologies used to evaluate epidemiology and toxicology data and dose-response information for purposes of human health risk assessment. Our work has been at the heart of most of the significant risk issues of the past 25 years—from models for cross-species or low-dose extrapolation to the appropriate use of pharmacokinetic and mechanistic data. For example, ENVIRON is at the forefront of the development and application of physiologically based-pharmacokinetic (PB-PK) models to evaluate potential exposures and risks more effectively. Similarly, ENVIRON’s ecological and wildlife risk specialists are leaders in the field of environmental risk assessment and risk management.
In the absence of clear regulatory pressures, companies increasingly are evaluating the health and environmental consequences of the products they manufacture or use to minimize or avoid risk and to achieve environmental sustainability. ENVIRON's risk assessment capabilities increasingly are being used as a critical tool in this type of product stewardship effort.
