ENVIRON Worldwide:

Technical Support for Litigation

Litigation related to products and to occupational and environmental exposures is now commonplace and the technical issues in many such matters can be highly complex. ENVIRON's scientists, engineers, and industrial hygienists have extensive experience in providing clients and their legal counsel a thorough understanding of the relevant technical aspects of such litigation.

Many litigation matters involve tort claims, and thus require a scientific evaluation of disease or injury causation. ENVIRON's epidemiologists and toxicologists are highly expert in the type of evidence that is relevant to the evaluation of causation, and of the scientific criteria appropriate to apply to such evidence. Our engineers, environmental scientists, and industrial hygienists can unravel and make clear the complex problem of understanding exposures that individuals have incurred through the environment or in the workplace. Causal analysis depends critically on the availability of a sound analysis of exposures. Exposure reconstruction—the development of an understanding of exposures individuals claiming injury have incurred in the past—is a special feature of ENVIRON's technical work.

ENVIRON has also assisted clients in understanding the testimony offered by experts and in identifying aspects of such testimony that may not be based upon sound scientific data or methodology. In addition, many of ENVIRON's senior staff have served as expert witnesses.

Litigation involving regulatory matters and even patent disputes has also been a significant element of ENVIRON's experience.
