ADVENT Integral System (AIS)

A significant innovative reconfiguration of the Activated Sludge Process

The first AIS was designed and constructed for General Electric Plastics by Dr. Carl Adams in 1993 in order to minimize capital and operating costs of biological treatment. The system was developed full-scale by The Advent Group, Inc. in partnership with several industries (GE Plastics, HUNTSMAN Chemicals, OLIN Corporation, Mitsubishi Chemicals). In May 2005, The Advent Group merged with ENVIRON.

Based on the patented concept of "Induced Downward Sludge Velocity," AIS significantly advanced the activated sludge process — it has no moving parts.

AIS enables both construction of new treatment facilities as well as an easy process of retrofitting existing plants. The system provides the following advantages:
